Match between Tromsø SK and Batani Chess Club from Maine

Tromsø Chess Club has challenged Batani Chess Club, based in the state of Maine – one of the smaller states in the US – for a friendly rematch in chess. Maine won the first encounter in November 2020 with 22-18. The new match will be played over 18 boards on Sunday the 31th of January at 12 O’clock Maine time – 18 O’Clock Norwegian time.

The match will be played out on Lichess.org with a 30 min. 0 sec. increment per player per game. Players at each board play two games against each other – one with white pieces, one with black pieces. Players will receive a LINK to start the game at 18 O’clock – just wait patience at the link and click on it when clock is. After the game has startet – a NEW link will pop up in your inbox. This link you click on AFTER you game has ended. Then you immediately start a new game with reversed colors.

How do I start the match – once again?

When time is 12 Maine time early in the day and 18 Norwegian time you should be READY – its VERY important to start the game in time – else you might lose for you team.

 

  1. You get a link in your inbox at Lichess. You will get a red sign og your screen – a red number! Click at it!

 

   2. Click at the green message at top of your inbox! 

   

    3. The link looks something like this: Click the link to start the game and wait for you opponent to do the same!

 

 

When the game has startet remember to play it out and don’t get confused if you get a new link in your inbox – this is how we do it.

 

   4. When your first game has finnished, you should start a new game with reversed colors by clicking the link you have got in you inbox again!

 

Important message: You should NOT rematch you opponent by clicking rematch: You MUST use the link – else the result will not get to our automatic system!

 

Where will we meet? We meet in the Match-lobby at lichess in quite a few minutes before it starts at 12 / 18.

We have made a Lobby at Lichess where we can talk, where you can chat with the Tournement director “audunp” and where you can get information. Remember that this is a fake tourament we made to have a lobby at Lichess. The real games starts with you clicking the link you get in your inbox as described above.

Is there a stream from this Event?

Yes! We make a stream in English that will follow the games – and discuss things during the game – the stream will have a delay.

  • The time controll is 30 0. (30 minutes for the entire game. No increment).
  • The games will be announced on these web pages shortly before the first round. Click on “Games” above to see all games.
  • When the round is ready a invitation to each game will be sent to each players inbox on Lichess. Start your game by accepting this invitation.
  • Important: When you are finished with the first game, do not chose “rematch” in Lichess. Wait for an other invitation before starting the second game.
